South Newton extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Colton Marks. The South Newton Rebels came out on top against the North Newton Spartans by a score of 59-48 on Tuesday with plenty of help from Marks, who went 6-for-12 on his way to 22 points and five steals. His evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points.
Matthew Armstrong was another key player, putting up nine points along with five boards and four steals. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 2.1 steals per game.
North Newton's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jackson Alexander, who went 5-for-11 to rack up 11 points and eight rebounds. Alexander continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Levy, who posted 11 points.
South Newton's win bumped their record up to 4-14. As for North Newton, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-17.
South Newton has already played their next game, a 71-37 defeat against Carroll on the 22nd. As for North Newton, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 40-31 loss against Wheeler on the 22nd.
