Baseball Game Preview: Northeastern Bobcats vs. William Penn Bearcats

Northeastern is a perfect 7-0 against William Penn since May of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Bobcats will face off against the Bearcats at 4:15 p.m. Northeastern will be strutting in after a victory while William Penn will be coming in after a loss.

Northeastern is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They came out on top against Spring Grove by a score of 9-4 on Wednesday. The Bobcats haven't had any issues with the Rockets recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Lennon Hammaker tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Connor Bissinger, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Isaac Woods, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when William Penn challenged Dallastown on Wednesday. The Bearcats fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 5-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

William Penn saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angel Vargas, who went 1-for-2 with one run and one double. That double marked the first that Vargas has hit this season.

William Penn's defeat dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Northeastern, their victory bumped their record up to 2-3-1.

Everything went Northeastern's way against William Penn when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Northeastern made off with an 11-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bobcats since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
