East Noble and Homestead are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2015, but likely not for long. The Knights will venture away from home to square off against the Spartans at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. East Noble is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last five times East Noble and Warsaw have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Tuesday. The Knights wound up with the same score they had in their last game (6-3), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time.
Abby Alwine was huge no matter where she played even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one RBI.
Alwine wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aubrey Helmkamp, who scored a run while going 1-for-4. Shaye Ritchie also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Homestead got themselves on the board against Southern Wells on Wednesday, but Southern Wells never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Raiders with a sharp 13-0 victory. That looming 13-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Spartans yet this season.
Homestead also got a great performance from Chelsie Rosine as she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave Rosine a new career-high in strikeouts (five).
On the hitting side, Maddy Rodgers was incredible, firing off two home runs, six RBI, and one double while going 3-for-4. Ellyana Hyder was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Homestead lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Southern Wells didn't launched any home runs.
The win made it two in a row for Homestead and bumps their season record up to 3-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for East Noble, the loss was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 2-2.
East Noble might still be hurting after the 14-0 defeat they got from Homestead in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Knights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
