Andrea Kindrick of
Russellville (Russellville, Ark.) High School, have all been named as the High School Players of the Week for their respective regions by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association for games played through May 5, 2012.
In the North Region, Elwell hit .636 for the week with 13 RBI and 8 runs scored. The senior slugger was also stellar on the mound, as she pitched a combined 10 innings in two games, allowing just five hits and no earned runs. Her efforts helped the Knights capture the Cardinal Classic. On the mound Elwell owns a 10-3 record and a .673 batting average so far this season. The Knights improved to 15-3 and a #5 ranking in Michigan.
Representing the South Region, Davis hit .700 over 4 games with 2 doubles, a homerun, and 8 RBI. On the mound the junior also pitched 4 perfect innings in a big win over the Durham School of Arts. She has yet to give up an earned run and has only allowed 2 hits so far this season. Davis owns a .733 batting average with 10 homeruns and a 1.489 slugging percentage, striking out only twice in 45 at bats. The Vikings are 18-0 and are currently ranked #6 in North Carolina.
Out of the East Region, Picard was almost unstoppable at the plate. This week in 3 games, the junior had a .916 batting average with 13 RBI, 10 runs scored, and a whopping 2.34 slugging percentage. Picard belted 3 doubles and 4 homeruns increasing her total to 8 homeruns so far for the season. On the year Picard is hitting .879 with 23 runs scored and 27 RBI. The wins improved the Beavers record to 7-4.
From the West Region, Ta'amilo went 4-0 on the mound improving her overall record to 16-3-1. In three of her four outings the sophomore did not allow an earned run, scattering 11 hits in 21 innings pitched to finish the week with a .33 ERA. So far this season she has an ERA of 1.02, with 150 strikeouts in 121.1 innings pitched. The Broncos are 19-3-1 and are ranked #19 in the state of California.
Rounding out this week's awards from the South Central Region, Kindrick went 3-0 in the circle including pitching 2 complete game shutouts against Van Buren and Mt. St. Mary Academy. The freshman struck out 15 against Van Buren and 16 against Mt. St. Mary, and finished the week striking out 37 of the 79 batters she faced. So far this season Kindrick owns a .72 ERA and has fanned 238 batters in 156 innings pitched. The wins helped the Cyclones improve to 23-6 and a #1 ranking in the state of Arkansas.
