Basketball Recap: Memorial Takes a Loss

If Memorial was feeling good fresh off their 100-67 takedown of Lowellville last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Memorial Red Devils were just a bucket shy of victory on Tuesday and fell 74-73 to the Jackson-Milton Bluejays. The Red Devils' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Despite the loss, Memorial still got an impressive performance from Josue Rodriguez, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. That's the most boards Rodriguez has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was Demetrius Lambert Jr., who went 5 for 8 on his way to 13 points and five rebounds.

Memorial's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 12-1 and their overall record down to 15-4. As for Jackson-Milton, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-9 record this season.

When Memorial and Jackson-Milton next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Memorial will try to stop Mineral Ridge's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial is looking to tack on another W to their six-game streak on the road. Meanwhile, Jackson-Milton will square off against McDonald and their seven-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Memorial is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 70.1 points per game this season.
