After two games on the road, Economedes is heading back home. They will take on the Edinburg Bobcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Economedes will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1161st, while Edinburg is ranked 552nd).
Last Tuesday, Economedes came up short against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo and fell 56-46.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Jesus Medrano, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds. He continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Jesse Carreon was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Edinburg posted their closest win yet this season on Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Mission and snuck past 46-44. The win made it back-to-back wins for Edinburg.
Economedes has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last eight contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-15 record this season. As for Edinburg, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
Economedes suffered a grim 76-52 defeat to Edinburg in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Economedes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
