There's no place like home for the Amherst Central Tigers, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with an 81-70 victory over St. Mary's on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Several Lancers players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Griffin Smith, who scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Israel Wilson, who scored 19 points.
Amherst Central pushed their record up to 1-1 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 33.33 points. As for St. Mary's, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.
Amherst Central will be home for the holidays to greet Nichols at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Nichols has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 374 points over their last five games. St. Mary's will take on Orchard Park in a holiday battle at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Orchard Park presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than St. Mary's in New York (Orchard Park is ranked 19th, while St. Mary's is ranked 359th).
