Tulelake gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 74-19 win over the Butte Valley Bulldogs. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 52-13.
Max Robison was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 280 yards and six TDs while picking up 11.7 yards per carry. Those six rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high. Ricky Garcia was in the mix too, providing Tulelake with two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Tulelake was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 395 rushing yards. They rushed for 192 more rushing yards than Butte Valley's also-impressive total of 203.
Tulelake didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Alex Garcia and Geovanni Alvaraez. Alvaraez got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
