Softball Game Preview: Gervais Cougars vs. Regis Rams

Gervais and Regis are an even 3-3 against one another since April of 2019, but likely not for long. The Cougars are taking a road trip to challenge the Rams at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

It was a proper cat-fight when Gervais faced off against Nestucca on Tuesday. The Cougars blew past the Bobcats 9-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cougars.

Meanwhile, Regis had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it seven on Friday. They put the hurt on the Eagles with a sharp 21-2 win.

Addie Bishop looked comfortable as she struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Regis got a massive performance out of Hadley Foster, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave Foster a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mayla Manning, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Regis was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .615. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in six consecutive games.

Gervais pushed their record up to 13-5-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Regis, their record now sits at 14-2.

Gervais suffered a grim 12-1 defeat to Regis in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
