The Falcons capped their 28-0 season with a 3-0 shutout win in mid-November for the 2016 PIAA Class AAA state title, and finished ranked as the No. 1 in Pennsylvania. More impressively, the team was ranked as the No. 3 boys soccer team in the nation by MaxPreps.
The trophy presentation was made during halftime of a boys varsity basketball game. The public address announcer Keith Harmon kicked off the ceremony, and MaxPreps representative Samantha Biastre spoke more about MaxPreps and the honor of receiving this prestigious trophy.
Biastre then introduced Staff Sergeant Erin Beebe of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard who spoke about the character traits found in each member of the Army National Guard and compared those traits to each player of the Lower Dauphin championship team. SSG Beebe then presented the Army National Guard national ranking trophy to head coach Gerry Lynch.
To conclude the ceremony, the leaders of the team thanked MaxPreps and the Army National Guard for the award and national recognition.
It was a great evening had by all in Hummelstown, Pennsylvania! Congratulations to the Lower Dauphin boys soccer team on a fantastic season and high national ranking.
