The Russell Red Devils stacked a 13th blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Saturday. They put the hurt on Raceland with a sharp 79-53 win. Winning may never get old, but Russell sure is getting used to it with their fifth in a row.
Russell was led to victory by Shaelyn Steele and Kennedy Darnell. Steele dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten rebounds, while Darnell shot 5-for-10 from downtown and dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. It was the first time this season that Darnell pulled down eight or more rebounds. Gabby Oborne was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Russell's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-6. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Raceland, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Russell will take on Blazer at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Blazer will roll in looking for their 16th straight win, something Russell surely won't give up without a fight. As for Raceland, they will be playing at home against Paintsville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Paintsville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 186 points over their last three contests.
