The Interlake Saints are taking a road trip to challenge the Evergreen Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Evergreen took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Interlake, who comes in off a win.
Interlake is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Renton on Friday as they made off with a 19-0 victory. The Saints might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.
Cooper Benson made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Benson was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two doubles. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other pitching news, Eric Wallin looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Interlake is 9-2 when Wallin allows one or fewer hits, but 4-5 otherwise.
Back at the plate, Interlake got a massive performance out of Ty Marcum, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. What's more, Marcum posted two hits, the most he's had since back in March. Ben Haufe was another key player, going 2-for-3 with five RBI and one run.
Interlake kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.
Meanwhile, Evergreen fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Cedarcrest on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 5-2 to the Red Wolves. The Wolverines' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Evergreen saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kevin Martinez, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases and one run. Martinez is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last seven games he's played. Darin Ouk also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.
Interlake has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Evergreen, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Interlake has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Evergreen struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 9.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Interlake took their victory against Evergreen in their previous matchup last Friday by a conclusive 11-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Saints since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
