Baseball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Ravenna's Winning Streak

After a string of three wins, Ravenna's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell 7-3 to the Norton Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-0 on April 4th.

James Evans put in work while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Evans was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI.

Evans wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Hysell, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. That stolen base marked the first that Hysell has snagged this season.

Ravenna's loss dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Norton, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ravenna will face off against Struthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Norton, they will head out to take on Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
