The Longmont Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 20 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 62-42 margin over Loveland. With that win, Longmont brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.
Longmont found their leader in underclassman Dominic Lombrano, who scored 21 points along with five steals. That's the first time this season that Lombrano scored 15 or more points. Suge Valles was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five steals.
Several Red Wolves players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Trey Olsen, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Olsen's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Gebhardt, who scored nine points.
Longmont has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Loveland, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 3-3.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Longmont will stay at home for another game and welcome Niwot at 7:00 p.m. on December 19th. Niwot is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak. Loveland and Fossil Ridge will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 19th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fossil Ridge is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
