It was a good run, but the Southern Rams unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They were the victim of a tough 70-46 loss at the hands of Wheeling Central Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Southern has scored all season.
Several Rams players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jared Haskiell, who scored 17 points. Haskiell scored a full 37% of Southern's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Joel Campbell, who scored eight points.
Southern's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Wheeling Central Catholic, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 7-0.
Southern will head out on the road to face off against Mountain Ridge at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Wheeling Central Catholic won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Waynesburg Central at 3:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Waynesburg Central will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 559th in Pennsylvania, while Wheeling Central Catholic is ranked 13th in West Virginia).
