The Littlestown Thunderbolts will face off against the Susquehannock Warriors at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday. Littlestown is coming into the game hot, having won their last eight games.
On Wednesday, Littlestown got the win against Biglerville by a conclusive 14-3. Considering the Thunderbolts have won eight contests by more than seven runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Alexis Stonesifer was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Adyson Popoff and Sarah Loveless did most of the damage at the plate: Popoff went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Loveless went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple was Loveless' first of the season. Ashlynn Gorsuch was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.
Littlestown kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Biglerville only managed six hits.
Meanwhile, Susquehannock owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Wednesday. They came out on top against West York Area by a score of 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Warriors.
West York Area's batters probably weren't too happy with Ella Wetzel, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 14 Ks (she gave up a single walk).
On the hitting side, Callie Shue was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Littlestown pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Susquehannock, their record is now 7-4.
Susquehannock's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Littlestown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .519. It's a different story for Susquehannock, though, as they've only averaged .338. Will they be able to contain Littlestown's hitters?
