5A Region 4 recap Oct. 3, 2012
Ramsay moved up to 330 from 366 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 5A Region 4. The Rams climbed the ranks as a result of a 42-40 win over Carver.
Sylacauga extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Childersburg, 24-8. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
Chance Britnell and Michael Seaton gave Chilton County a balanced attack through the air and ground last week. Britnell threw for 180 yards and two touchdowns, while Seaton ran for 121 yards. Teammate Richard Hilliard added to the ground attack by rushing for 55 yards.
Luke Porter provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Homewood bested Wetumpka. He completed 13 passes for 195 yards and also ran for one yards. Porter's favorite target this week was Devonte Wallace, who caught five passes for 116 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Britnell of the Tigers is the league leader in passing yards this season with 539. He has also thrown five touchdowns. On the ground, Carroll Catholic's Kenneth Johnson has rushed for 492 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Wallace. The Homewood star has 14 catches for 308 yards.
A big matchup in 5A Region 4 this week will be when Chilton County takes on Sylacauga. As it stands, Donnie Hand's team is in third, while Matt Griffith's team is in first.
The Patriots led the league in scoring this week after putting up 50 points on the Indians. Justin Hardy ran for 111 yards and caught one passes for 11 yards in the win.
