The Highland Huskies entered their tilt with the Timnath Cubs with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Highland blew past Timnath 78-42 on the road. Given Highland's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Timnath is ranked 221st), the result on Saturday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Highland to victory, but perhaps none more so than Sawyer Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 15 rebounds. Morgan has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last four times he's played. Another player making a difference was Carson Steinke, who scored 15 points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Timnath saw an underclassman step up: Max Roselle scored ten points along with six rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Carter Gaines, who scored six points.
Highland is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-4 record this season. As for Timnath, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-9.
Highland will head out on the road to challenge Brush at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing isn't great for Brush: they have been struggling with three straight losses at home, while Highland has snatched up three consecutive wins on the road. Timnath will take on Strasburg at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Strasburg's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last eight games.
