The Auburn Bulldogs will square off against the Fairbury Jeffs at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Auburn is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Auburn will bounce into Monday's matchup after beating Omaha Northwest, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Bulldogs came out on top against the Huskies by a score of 6-1 on Saturday. The Bulldogs haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Jackson Warner made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Auburn is undefeated when Warner allows one or fewer earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise. Warner was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Griffin Sikora, who went 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Auburn hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Fairbury was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 7-2 to Lincoln Lutheran.
Fairbury saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Garrett Roelfs, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Auburn's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Fairbury, their loss dropped their record down to 4-14.
Fairbury's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Auburn has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.5 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Fairbury, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Auburn keep running through batters, or will the Jeffs buck the trend?
Auburn took their victory against Fairbury when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 14-6 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Jeffs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
