6A District 3 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Norman North extended the longest winning streak in 6A District 3 this week by beating Putnam City North, 34-7. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Yukon made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,967 from 3,402. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 42-17 victory over Midwest City last week.
Moore's dynamic duo of Colin Webb and Ryan Lujan proved tough for Edmond North to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Webb threw for 98 yards and one touchdown and Lujan had 53 yards receiving. Jordan Bernhardy helped Moore's passing attack out by catching two balls for 53 yards.
Jarvis Jackson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In seven carries, he ran for 83 yards as Eisenhower lost to the Huskies. Xavier Jones also contributed to the rushing game with 79 yards on the ground.
Norman North's Peyton Gavras and Jake Higginbotham have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Gavras has thrown for 1619 yards this season, while Higginbotham, a 6-foot-0 receiver, has 22 catches for 567 yards. Lujan from Moore leads the league in rushing with 561 yards.
A big matchup in 6A District 3 this week will be when the Lions take on Chuck Peot's team. As it stands, Moore is in fifth, while the Timberwolves are in first.
The Eagles led the league in scoring this week after putting up 70 points on Grant. Bentley Bross threw for 60 yards and one touchdown and ran for 38 yards in the win.
