The Red Lion Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Dallastown Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Red Lion can finally bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Friday. They breezed by Northeastern on the road to the tune of 61-24. Red Lion pushed the score to 49-0 by the end of the third, a deficit Northeastern cut but never quite recovered from.
Mason Hollingshead was on fire: he rushed for 192 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, and also threw for 64 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Hollingshead's longest rush was for an incredible 81 yards. Chris Price also helped out as he racked up 105 rushing yards.
Dallastown fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They came out on top against Spring Grove by a score of 28-21 on Friday. Given Dallastown's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania football rankings (they are ranked 145th, while Spring Grove is ranked 292nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dallastown's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Michael Scott, who rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown, and also picked up 36 receiving yards. Dallastown also got a significant boost from Shamar Smith, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 81 yards.
The team's defense also helped out by holding Spring Grove to a paltry 219 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Dallastown's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out five times before it was all said and done. Spring Grove's QB won't forget Colby Laughman anytime soon given Laughman sacked him five times.
Red Lion's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Dallastown, their victory also bumped their record up to an identical 4-5.
Red Lion strolled past Dallastown in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 by a score of 44-30. The rematch might be a little tougher for Red Lion since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
