Even though the Tuscumbia Lions scored an imposing 58 points on Thursday, the Calvary Lutheran Lions still came out on top. Calvary Lutheran managed a 64-58 victory over Tuscumbia. That's another feather in the cap for Calvary Lutheran, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Several Lions players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Benley Boggs, who scored 23 points. Damon Whittle was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds.
Calvary Lutheran now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Tuscumbia, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Calvary Lutheran will take on Columbia Independent at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Columbia Independent focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 last Thursday. Tuscumbia won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Chamois at 7:30 p.m. on January 12th. Chamois is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
