Even though The Midland Bulldogs scored an imposing 31 points on Friday, the Midland Legacy Rebels still came out on top. Midland Legacy strolled past Midland with points to spare, taking the game 49-31. The win made it back-to-back wins for Midland Legacy.
It was another big night for Marcos Davila, who threw for 392 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.3 yards per attempt, and also punched in a rushing score. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Johnson, who rushed for 84 yards and two touchdowns.
Midland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Stroman Bridges, who rushed for 112 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries. Bridges really tore up the turf during one magnificent 80-yard run. Elijah Mccoy was another key contributor, rushing for 108 yards and a touchdown.
Midland Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which lines up perfectly with their 8-2 record this season. As for Midland, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-2.
Midland Legacy will head out on the road to face off against Odessa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Odessa will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 189th, while Midland Legacy is ranked 30th). As for Midland, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Permian at 7:00 p.m. Permian has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 201 points over their last five matchups.
