It was a good run, but the Covenant Christian Cougars unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Thursday. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 85-65 walloping at the hands of Greenhill. While losing is never fun, Covenant Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 414th, while Greenhill is ranked 171st).
Covenant Christian's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Matthew Boughton, who scored 15 points along with 6 rebounds. The match was Boughton's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was AJ Guerra, who scored 11 points along with 7 rebounds.
Covenant Christian's loss dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Greenhill, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Covenant Christian will take on McKinney Christian Academy at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. McKinney Christian Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Covenant Christian likes a good challenge. Greenhill's road trip will continue as they head out to face Trinity Christian at 8:30 p.m. on December 1st.
