Concord Academy is 9-1 against SouthLake Christian Academy since May of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. We've got a battle between Eagles coming up. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Concord Academy is headed into Thursday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They took a 14-10 hit to the loss column at the hands of Piedmont Community Charter. One positive for the Eagles, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.
Izzy Williams was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-3. She also put up a home run, which was her first of the season. Milee Amburn was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Meanwhile, SouthLake Christian Academy hadn't done well against Hickory Grove Christian recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. SouthLake Christian Academy came out on top against Hickory Grove Christian by a score of 12-8. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.
Ashton Maultsby made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Maultsby was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Maelyia Blair, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Madeline Pressley, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3.
SouthLake Christian Academy pushed their record up to 2-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 12 runs. As for Concord Academy, they now have a losing record of 2-3.
Concord Academy took their victory against SouthLake Christian Academy in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 18-5. Will Concord Academy repeat their success, or does SouthLake Christian Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
