Football Recap: Buchanan Skates Past Paso Robles with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Buchanan). They claimed a resounding 49-13 victory over the Paso Robles Bearcats. The Bears haven't had any issues with the Bearcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Buchanan found their leader in sophomore Tommy Devany, who threw for 265 yards and one TD on perfect 16-for-16 passing, and also punched in one touchdown on the ground. Gannon Sever helped Devany out on the ground, rushing for 38 yards and a pair of scores.

Special teams was a major factor in the game for Buchanan, racking up 13 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Carvel Wafer, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

Buchanan's defense made their presence known, laying out the QB four times. In that department, Russell Devany was the leader with two sacks.

Buchanan's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Paso Robles, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Buchanan and Paso Robles will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Bears will take on rival Clovis at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Paso Robles is set to challenge their familiar foe Arroyo Grande at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
