Laquvionte Gonzalez ran for a touchdown with with 10:00 to go in the second quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Duncanville (Texas) 44-27.
The Longhorns were up 37-14 at the half after taking the lead on a Gonzalez touchdown run in the second quarter.
Cedar Hill saw its 23-point halftime lead fall to 17 entering the fourth.
Aaron Piper made a difference for the Panthers. The senior quarterback threw one touchdown and ran for one touchdown.
Gonzalez was the top performer for CH. The senior running back ran for two touchdowns and caught one touchdown.
The victory will ease some of the sting of the Longhorns' close 56-55 loss to Duncanville last season.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Cedar Hill, which was coming off a 48-35 defeat at the hands of DeSoto in its previous game.
In a 5A Region I District 7 game next week Cedar Hill (2-3) takes on South Grand Prairie, and Duncanville (1-4) will go up against Grand Prairie also in a 5A Region I District 7 game.
