After a string of eight wins, the Rock Creek Academy Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell to Orleans 55-50. While losing is never fun, Rock Creek Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 208th, while Orleans is ranked 66th).
Orleans' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Callie Alston, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Mylie Knight, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Rock Creek Academy's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-8. As for Orleans, they pushed their record up to 13-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Rock Creek Academy will finish 2023 at home by hosting Shoals at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Orleans will take on North Daviess at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Daviess has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 2.
