It was a good run, but the Palmetto Ridge Bears unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell 65-54 to Sarasota.
Defeat or not, Palmetto Ridge got some senior leadership from Calven Charles and Jaden Brightmon. Charles dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, while Brightmon. scored 15 points. Charles is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last 14 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaydon Soto, who scored four points along with six assists.
Palmetto Ridge's loss dropped their record down to 16-3. As for Sarasota, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Palmetto Ridge and Fort Myers will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fort Myers is on a three-game streak of home wins, Palmetto Ridge a six-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. Sarasota on the road again on Tuesday and play against Lakewood Ranch at 7:30 p.m. on January 23rd.
