The Buena Vista Longhorns came tearing into Tuesday's match with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22 points) and they left with even more momentum. They strolled past Iraan with points to spare, taking the game 54-35. That's another feather in the cap for Buena Vista, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Buena Vista got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Sebastian Porras out in front who scored 22 points along with five steals. Porras is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Caden Valdez, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five steals.
Buena Vista pushed their record up to 18-5 with that win, which was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.6 points per game. As for Iraan, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 19-5.
Coincidentally, Buena Vista and Iraan will both be playing Rankin the next time they take the court. Iraan will head out to face Rankin at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, while Buena Vista will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
