The Academy Wildcats's three-game losing streak came to an end on Saturday. They took down Eagle Ridge Academy 69-53. This was payback for The Academy, who suffered a 68-65 loss the last time these two teams met.
The Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Trey Boychuk out in front who scored 22 points along with four steals. Boychuk has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin Massler, who scored 23 points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, Eagle Ridge Academy still got an impressive performance from Aiden Wanrow, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 17 rebounds. Wanrow has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 11 times he's played. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Garcia, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
The Academy's victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for Eagle Ridge Academy, they have fallen quite a ways from their 21-6 record last season and are now at 5-9.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. The Academy will take on Forge Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Forge Christian will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Eagle Ridge Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Prospect Ridge Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Prospect Ridge Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 last Wednesday.
