Hoehne took Rye into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking three-point loss. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 14-25, 25-22, 25-18, 24-26, 15-12.
Despite the defeat, Hoehne had strong showings from Cadence Doering, who had 15 digs and four aces, and Isabella Chacon, who had 16 digs. Those four aces gave Doering a new career-high.
Even though they lost, Hoehne was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 11 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rye only served nine.
Del Norte pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season. As for Hoehne, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 14-8.
