The Columbia Wildcats put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 41-14 win over Lawrence County at home. The result was nothing new for Columbia, who have now won seven contests by 20 points or more so far this season.
Loss or not, Lawrence County got some senior leadership from Kannon Cato who rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns and Ahmad Hardy who rushed for 117 yards. Hardy hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for four straight games.
Columbia's win was their sixth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 44.2 points per game. As for Lawrence County, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-5.
Columbia will head out on the road to face off against Purvis at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Purvis will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 117th, while Columbia is ranked 18th). As for Lawrence County, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Forrest County Agricultural at 7:00 p.m.
