Softball Recap: Land O' Lakes Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Calvary Christian, Land O' Lakes was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They walked away with a 7-3 victory over the River Ridge Royal Knights. This was payback for the Gators, who suffered a 6-5 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Miyah Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on seven hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Jaila Mitchell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariah Thompson, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Mitchell wasn't the only one working in the home run department: Land O' Lakes lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

The win got Land O' Lakes back to even at 11-11. As for River Ridge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Land O' Lakes will face off against Osceola at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so the Gators' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for River Ridge, they will square off against Academy at the Lakes at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Royal Knights surely won't give up without a fight.
