The Rockledge Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Mainland Buccaneers at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
With a playoff game on the line, Rockledge rose to the challenge on Friday. They skirted past Jensen Beach 19-16. The win was just what Rockledge needed coming off of a 26-0 defeat in their prior game.
The critical scores for Rockledge came from Jamarcus Giscombe and Lorenzo Bell jr.
Meanwhile, Mainland can now show off seven landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by Satellite at home to the tune of 62-0. The high flying offensive effort was a huge turnaround for Mainland's zero-point performance the contest before.
Mainland can attribute much of their success to Dennis Murray jr., who threw for 146 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Corey Hill, who rushed for 41 yards and two touchdowns.
Mainland's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. It was a group effort, with three guys contributing.
Rockledge now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Mainland, their victory bumped their record up to 10-1.
Rockledge couldn't quite finish off Mainland in their previous meeting back in November of 2022 and fell 16-14. Can Rockledge avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
