It was a good run, but Golden State Prep unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They suffered a rough 83-62 loss at the hands of Leadership Public Schools Richmond. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Despite the loss, Golden State Prep still got an impressive performance from Emanuel Rodriguez, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Rodriguez hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Onyekachi Achinulo was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 5 assists and 5 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Golden State Prep were working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Leadership Public Schools Richmond only racked up 25.
Leadership Public Schools Richmond found their leader in underclassman Landon Grisby, who scored 41 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 steals. Another player making a difference was Damien Carter, who scored 12 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds.
Golden State Prep's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 4-1. As for Leadership Public Schools Richmond, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
Golden State Prep has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Wilson Prep at 6:00 p.m. on December 4th. Leadership Public Schools Richmond is on the road again on Monday and play against Invictus at 6:00 p.m. on December 4th.
