The Norview Pilots will head out on the road to face off against the Lake Taylor Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Norview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
After a string of three wins, Norview's good fortune finally ran out. They fell 51-40 to Deep Creek. While losing is never fun, Norview can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 59th, while Deep Creek is ranked fourth).
The losing side was boosted by Kiyah Fitchett, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. She also posted two blocks for the first time this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jazmin Smith, who scored four points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lake Taylor lost to Manor at home by a decisive 54-39 margin on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Lake Taylor in their matchups with Manor: they've now lost six in a row.
Norview's record now sits at 7-5. As for Lake Taylor, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-2.
Everything came up roses for Norview against Lake Taylor in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the team secured a 75-19 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Norview since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
