The Red Bud Musketeers will head out on the road to face off against the Mascoutah Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Red Bud is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.4 runs per game this season.
Red Bud took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They came out on top against Carlyle by a score of 6-1.

Julia Ohlau made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off six hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
In other batting news, Julia Whelan and Lilly Minemann did most of the damage at the plate: Whelan went 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base, while Minemann went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
Red Bud hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carlyle struck out 13 times.
Meanwhile, Mascoutah was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They walked away with a 9-5 victory over Jersey. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won five in a row.
Faith Moore spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaila Moore, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Emelia Stein, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Red Bud pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Mascoutah, their record is now 8-5.
Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Red Bud hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .367. However, it's not like Mascoutah struggles in that department as they've averaged .388. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Red Bud skirted past Mascoutah 7-6 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Musketeers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
