Centauri has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They and the Bayfield Wolverines will face off at 7:00 p.m. on February 2nd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Saturday, Centauri was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 33-29 to the Pirates. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Centauri in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost three in a row.
Despite their loss, Centauri saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Carson Bagwell, who scored 12 points, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Kaleb Anderson, who scored seven points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Bayfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They received a tough blow as they fell 69-55 to Montezuma-Cortez. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Centauri's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5. As for Bayfield, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-13.
Everything went Centauri's way against the Wolverines when the teams last played back in January as the Falcons made off with a 62-39 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Centauri since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
