West Muskingum and Morgan are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The West Muskingum Tornadoes will be home for the holidays to greet the Morgan Raiders at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Last Tuesday, West Muskingum was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 48-43 to River View. West Muskingum has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Conner Hill, who scored 20 points along with three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for him. Carter Smith was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Even though they lost, West Muskingum were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Morgan was beaten by Maysville 70-39 on Tuesday. Morgan has struggled against Maysville recently, as their matchup on Tuesday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
West Muskingum's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 2-2. As for Morgan, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.
West Muskingum strolled past Morgan in their previous meeting back in February by a score of 46-29. Will West Muskingum repeat their success, or does Morgan have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
