The Cotulla Cowboys will challenge the Hondo Owls at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Cotulla took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over Dilley. The win continues a trend for the Cowboys in their matchups with the Wolves: they've now won three in a row.

Frank Torres made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Cotulla's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 1-11-1 when he doesn't). Torres was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Eli Renteria and Devin Ramirez did most of the damage at the plate: Renteria went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Ramirez went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run. Renteria has become a key player for Cotulla: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 2-11-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Eric Aldaco, who earned two runs and four stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Hondo got the win against Natalia on Thursday by a conclusive 16-2. The result was nothing new for the Owls, who have now won seven matchups by eight runs or more so far this season.
Hondo let Kolby Gear and Mason Barr run wild. Gear went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Barr went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. Josiah Quintanilla was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs.
Hondo always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Natalia only posted an OBP of .263.
Hondo is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-5-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Cotulla, their win bumped their record up to 5-11-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Cotulla has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Hondo struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 2.7 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Cotulla might still be hurting after the 17-2 defeat they got from Hondo in their previous matchup two weeks ago. Will the Cowboys have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
