The Mandeville Skippers will square off against the Ponchatoula Green Wave at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mandeville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.9 runs per game this season.

While Mandeville's victory against Covington wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Mandeville narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Covington 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Skippers have posted since March 11th.

Mia Baham tossed a big game, striking out six batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Mia Graefenstein, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Lindsay Berniard was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four games, Ponchatoula finally came back down to earth on Wednesday. They came up short against Kaplan, falling 9-1. The Green Wave's defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Ponchatoula saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Faye Boihem, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Mandeville's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Ponchatoula, their loss dropped their record down to 13-10.

Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mandeville hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Ponchatoula struggles in that department as they've averaged .374. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
