The Marietta Blue Devils's road trip will continue as they head out to face the Woodstock Wolverines at 6:00 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Marietta is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Woodstock in Georgia (Marietta is ranked 74th, while Woodstock is ranked 214th).
Last Tuesday, Marietta beat Paulding County 58-46.
Marietta's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Frances Storey led the charge by scoring 17 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Storey is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lyric Turner, who scored 9 points along with 6 steals and 5 assists.
Meanwhile, Woodstock's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 69-47 walloping at the hands of Cherokee. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Woodstock in their matchups with Cherokee: they've now lost four in a row.
Their wins bumped Marietta to 3-2 and Paulding County to 3-2.
Marietta came up short against Woodstock when the teams last played back in December of 2021, falling 60-55. Can Marietta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
