Given Cranbrook Kingswood's advantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 204th, while the Knights are ranked 452nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Cranbrook Kingswood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Catherine Vaz out in front who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Vaz has scored all season. Sravya Oruganti was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Cranbrook Kingswood's win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-3. As for University Liggett, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Cranbrook Kingswood won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the at 4:30 p.m. on January 30th. As for University Liggett, they will head out on the road to face off against the Gryphons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
