Two dominant backs in Ian Thomas and Robert Carter are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Tomball Cougars will challenge the Waller Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Tomball put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 58-42 win over Klein Forest. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
The match pitted two dominant backs against one another in Thomas and Dejaune Etheridge. Thomas had a great game and rushed for 174 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 10.2 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Etheridge was balling out in the loss, rushing for 48 yards and a pair of scores, while also picking up 113 receiving yards.
Meanwhile, Waller humbled Cypress Park with a 55-7 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five contests by 31 points or more so far this season.
Tomball better keep an eye on Tre'Juan Boudreaux. He was instrumental in Waller's win, rushing for 91 yards and two TDs. Those rushing touchdowns were Boudreaux's first of the season.
Waller was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 284 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cypress Park only rushed for 156.
Waller didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Weston Hubertus, Kayden Kee, and Deshune McGary, who each picked up one interception apiece.
Tomball's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Waller, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Everything came up roses for Tomball against Waller in their previous meeting back in October of 2023, as the team secured a 42-8 win. In that matchup, the Cougars amassed a halftime lead of 28-8, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
