Minster hasn't had much luck against New Bremen recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will challenge the Cardinals at 6:00 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.
Minster saw some tournament action on Thursday. They blew past Allen East 3-0.
Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-11, 25-13, 25-20.
Meanwhile, New Bremen waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over the Commodores.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant New Bremen was: they took every set by at least 19 points. The final score came out to 25-5, 25-4, 25-6.
Minster better focus on containing Allie Bornhorst and Charlotte Nelson as the pair were huge in New Bremen's win. Bornhorst had 11 assists and five aces, while Nelson had 22 assists. Nelson has been hot, having posted 12 or more assists the last seven times she's played. Carly Bushman also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.
New Bremen was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Minster now has a winning record of 12-11. As for New Bremen, their record is now 21-2.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Tuesday's contest: Minster has really dialed in their serving this season, having averaged 6.9 aces per game. However, it's not like New Bremen struggles in that department as they've been averaging 10.5 aces. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Minster might still be hurting after the 3-0 defeat they got from New Bremen when the teams last played back in September. Can the Wildcats avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
