Marina is 0-8 against Pacific Grove since January of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Marina Mariners will be playing at home against the Pacific Grove Breakers at 7:00 p.m. Marina knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Pacific Grove likes a good challenge.
Marina stacked a sixth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Tuesday. They blew past Stevenson 67-41. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Marina has posted since December 20, 2023.
Julius Robinson continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 28 points. He hasn't dropped below 15points for four straight games. Khalik Kennedy was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Meanwhile, even though St. Francis scored an imposing 60 points on Friday, Pacific Grove still came out on top. Pacific Grove walked away with a 67-60 victory over St. Francis. Winning is a bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 16 to 5 on the offensive boards, as Pacific Grove did.
Pacific Grove got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabriel Valencia out in front who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Valencia pulled down eight or more rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Brody Edmonds, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Marina's win bumped their record up to 11-4. As for Pacific Grove, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-8.
Thursday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Marina have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 24.9 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Pacific Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 30.2 rebounds per game. Given Marina's sizeable advantage in that area, Pacific Grove will need to find a way to close that gap.
Marina suffered a grim 50-28 defeat to Pacific Grove in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Will Marina have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
