The Rushville Lions scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They breezed by Morristown at home to the tune of 52-17. The win was some much needed relief for Rushville as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rushville to victory, but perhaps none more so than Quentin Cain, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Cain continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last four games he's played. Another player making a difference was Nick Jarman, who scored nine points along with nine rebounds and two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Morristown lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mathew Carlton. Despite the final result, he scored seven points along with two steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Morristown struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Rushville's win ended a six-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-11. As for Morristown, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-10.
Rushville won't have much time to rest: their next game is against New Castle at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. New Castle is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses. As for Morristown, they will head out on the road to square off against North Decatur at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. North Decatur presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Morristown in Indiana (North Decatur is ranked 156th, while Morristown is ranked 411th).
