The Sun Valley Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the Charlotte Latin Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sun Valley has given up an average of 7.6 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
Sun Valley came up short against Covenant Day on Friday, falling 12-1. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Sun Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jaida Bates (2026), who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one RBI. Those two hits gave Bates (2026) a new career-high. Nykoll Vera (2027) also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.
Meanwhile, Charlotte Latin put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past Cary Academy 19-1. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by nine runs or more this season.
Sydney Thune was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Charlotte Latin got a massive performance out of Talia Hawa, who scored four runs and stole Two bases. while going 4-for-4. Hawa is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Lila McConnell was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Charlotte Latin kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive matchups.
Sun Valley's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Charlotte Latin, they pushed their record up to 7-0 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road.
Sun Valley took their victory against Charlotte Latin in their previous matchup back in March of 2017 by a conclusive 16-0. Does Sun Valley have another victory up their sleeve, or will Charlotte Latin turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
