Woodward is 9-1 against the Falcons since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Woodward Bulldogs will be playing in front of their home fans against the Aiken Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Woodward knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully the Falcons like a good challenge.
Woodward proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 34) but on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 69-67 victory over Western Hills. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Meanwhile, Aiken got the win against the Tigers on Friday by a conclusive 57-35. Given Aiken's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 62nd, while the Tigers are ranked 321st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Aiken's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but James Burnett led the charge by scoring 18 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Antonio Hutcherson jr, who scored 12 points along with five steals.
Woodward's victory bumped their record up to 12-6. As for Aiken, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Woodward beat the Falcons 74-66 when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Does Woodward have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Falcons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
